The Woodstreet Big Band is the longest continuously playing jazz orchestra from The Hague (1972) in traditional format, consisting of saxophonists, trombonists, trumpeters and a rhythm section with drums, bass guitar, guitar and piano, singer Natascha de Jong and vocalist Roger Eilbracht. The orchestra is led by conductor Stanislav Mitrovic.
The big band plays from jazz classics such as Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Duke Ellington and Sammy Nestico to contemporary jazz by Weather Report, Chaka Khan, Madonna, Bee Gees, Oasis and Alicia Keys, among others. Besides these diverse musical genres, the Woodstreet Big Band is the only band in the world to play its own Hague Beat meets Jazz repertoire, special compositions with which it has played at such venues as Bevrijdingsfestival Den Haag, Jazz in de Gracht, The Hague Jazz Festival and North Sea Round Town.
In 2022, the Woodstreet Big Band celebrated its 50th anniversary with the project “A Dive into the Past” in a sold-out Theater De Nieuwe Regentes and Mayor Jan van Zanen presented them with the Stadspenning alongside his speech.
